Barbara was a cherished sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, leaving a warm mark on everyone she met. She loved exploring the world with her sister-in-law, Jenny Hymel, and found joy in staying active, particularly through walking. Barbara had a special talent for baking desserts, especially her famous fudge. After forty-two years at State Farm as a claims adjuster, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and care. Her spirit of adventure, kindness, and culinary delights will always be remembered by those who loved her.
She is survived by her three siblings, Evelyn Gautreaux, Larry Hymel (Dolores), and Ted Hymel (Charlotte) and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Bergeron; parents, Paul Sr. and Lucille Hymel; seven siblings, Marion Hymel, Paul Hymel Jr., Lonnie Hymel, Rodney Hymel, Jerry Hymel, Winton Hymel, and Rudy Hymel.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Hospice Specialist of Louisiana, particularly Mark Willow. They would also wish to thank West Towne Assisted Living for their support during this time. A special thank you goes to her two nieces, Debbie Cagle and Kay Browning, whose love and dedication made a significant difference. Your kindness and support will always be remembered.
A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in White Castle on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 9am until Mass at 11am at Our Lady Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Burial will be held in the White Castle Cemetery.
