He was born on March 30, 1952, in Dodge City, KS and died peacefully, at his home, on November 15, 2010, in Wheat Ridge, CO. Steve's soul was greeted in heaven, by those who preceded him in death, his parents, Everett and Donna (Sinclair) Roberts, as well as his sister, Rebecca (Roberts) Carter.
A devoted father and grandfather, Steve is survived by members of his loving family: Brothers 'Buck' Everett Jr. (Loretta) and Jack (Doti), as well as his three sons, Steven Jr. (Lori), Ian (Tiffany), Adam (Meg), and daughter Mollie (Jake). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sarah, Jacob, Makayla, Reygan, Gavin, McLain, Isla, Savannah, Logan and Raylan.
Coming to Colorado as a child, Steve forged friendships throughout his life. Steve graduated from Arvada High School in 1970.
Steve was loved and respected by the community at Applewood Baptist Church. He continued to embrace his faith and comfort in his savior, Jesus Christ. He shared his gift of song regularly with his weekly bible study group, singing hymns acapella during class. He acted regularly as security detail there so that others could worship in safety. Steve embraced the intent of the Second Amendment and exemplified the balance of protection with a noble sense of responsibility for himself and others.
Riding a tractor or hunting with friends were activities that brought Steve great joy and happiness. He loved the tranquility that connecting with nature brought him.
An expert of many disciplines, Steve was a master tradesman and electrician. He shared these skills from a place of humility and service with many grateful recipients.
The love that Steve had for this great country has endured through the military service of his children. Their selfless sacrifice was always a great source of pride for him.
