Rhoda Evelyn Lebow Hale died quietly on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the age of 94. Rhoda Hale was born June 24, 1916 in Waverly, KS, the daughter of C. F. “Frank” and Ada M. (Fear) Lebow. She was raised in Salina, KS and was a graduate of Kansas State University. She taught elementary school for over 27 years in Wichita, KS and Montrose, CO. Rhoda married Kenneth M. Hale of Wichita, KS on September 29, 1940 at the First Baptist Church in Salina, KS and they celebrated over 66 years of marriage. They lived in over 10 cities in the states and in Pakistan and Egypt where Ken was head of electrical engineering projects. Rhoda was a member of the Montrose Christian Church in Montrose; she was a 73 year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood; a long time member of Delta Kappa Ki sorority; a cellist in the Valley Symphony Orchestra for many years; and an active member of the Republican Party in Montrose.
Her husband, Ken preceded her in death in 2007 at the age of 91. Her sister and brother-in-law, Roberta and Robert Miller of Salina also preceded her in death. And her daughter-in-law, Cyndra Hale preceded her in death in 2008. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Claude of Colorado Springs; son Steven Hale of Denver; and son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Sharilyn Hale of Highlands Ranch, CO. Rhoda also has seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She has a nephew and niece and their spouses as well as grand-nieces & nephews.
The funeral was held at Crown Hills Memorial Cemetery in Wheatridge, CO a northern suburb of Denver on November 8, 2010. Pastor Nathan Smith presided. Burial is at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheatridge, CO. Memorials may be to your favorite charity or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
