Patricia Schmidt

Patricia Schmidt, 77, a principal in Denver Public Schools and Clark County Schools, died October 16, 2018 in Greeley, Colorado. If we could use one word to describe Patricia it would be passion. She had passion for kids and education.

Patricia was born on March 20, 1941 in Butte, Montana to Raymond and Irene Stodden. She spent her high school years in Littleton, Colorado where she graduated from Littleton High School as the class valedictorian. Patricia studied at Graceland College for two years and then transferred to the University of Colorado where she received her bachelor's in education. She earned her master's and her doctor of philosophy in education at the University of Colorado. She spent 25 years in the Denver Public School system. In 1996, Patricia moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where she inaugurated two new schools as principal. "Mom loved going to school every day as she greeted students when they walked into the building." her daughter Lisa said.

Patricia loved making ceramics on her pottery wheel and going to her cabin in Grand Lake, Colorado. She loved her children and family deeply. " Mom worked hard to be sure Lisa and I had the best opportunity in life and the best for all her family" said her son Todd.

Patricia is survived by her two children, Todd Whittemore and Lisa Nagle; her son-in-law John Nagle and her daughter-in-law Cherrie Whittemore; her brother Raymond Stodden and her sister-in-law Susan Stodden; and five granddaughters, Laura, Julia, Brandi, Bailey and Bree.

Visitation will be held at Olinger Crown Hill on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 7777 West 29th Avenue Wheat Ridge, Colorado 80033 . Funeral Services will be held at Olinger Moore-Howard's Chapel at 4345 West 46th Avenue Denver, Colorado 80212 on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception there. She will then be laid to rest immediately following at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
