Born to Julius Geary and Evelyn (Beth) Geary. She joked that they named her after a comic foxtrot from the 1930s called “The Wreck of the Nancy Lee.” The family settled in Lake Zurich, Illinois where she had fond childhood memories of living at the Creamery where they pumped water and used a pot-belly stove to heat the house.
She graduated from Ela Vernon High School in 1955 and then attended Southland Bible Institute in Kentucky where she met her husband, Elias Sanford “Sandy” Gregory. They were married in 1958 and spent three years as missionaries in Thailand. Nancy was a gifted artist and it was a hobby she enjoyed throughout her life. Sandy and Nancy had five daughters, Elizabeth Ben-Akiva, Rebecca Volz, Deborah Pearce, Christina McCleary, and Charlotte Horen; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was enormous, they were the joy of her life.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, older brother, Louis Geary, her husband, Sandy and youngest daughter, Charlotte.
