Melvin C Carpenter, 84, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2023. Mel was born March 2, 1939, in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Denver West High School. He married the love of his life on June 11, 1960. He worked his entire career in the floor covering industry in Denver, working as a driver, warehouse foreman, salesperson, and vice president of operations. He enjoyed raising his family, watching football, camping, fishing, and hunting.
Mel was dearly loved by family, but he was also regarded by friends and coworkers as a deeply sensitive and selfless person, touching all who met him with his sincere affection and friendly, polite personality. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mel was preceded in death by his mother Cora “Cori” Victoria Baker Carpenter, father Mitchell “Mike” Carpenter, and grandson Garett John Carpenter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elaine Carol Tucker Carpenter; and his four children, Michael Carpenter and partner Sara Oclassen of Lafayette, Colorado; Laura Carpenter of Lakewood, Colorado; Mark Carpenter and wife Holly Carpenter of Lakewood, Colorado; and Carl Carpenter and partner Kim Garcia of Centennial, Colorado.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Meghan (Mikkel) Buhl-Madsen, Andreanna (Gabriel) Thom, Leanna (Nick) Pushor, and Jocelyn (Amber) Gallegos; step grandchildren Andy Oclassen, Abby Oclassen, and Blake Garcia; great grandchildren Mia, Eva, Christian, Edwin, and Fulton; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and in-laws.
