Marie Antionette Martinez, 79, born in Denver, April 18, 1943, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Martinez, her parents, Arthur and Theresa Valadez, her brother John Valadez and her in-laws Cristobal Ignacio Martinez and Mary T. Ortiz, Nena Estrada, Cora Mangles, Jesse J Martinez, Christopher Harold Martinez, and Melvin J Martinez.
She is survived by her two daughters, Michele Orrino (Dave) and Meloney Martinez (Kevin), 2 grandchildren: Joseph Orrino (Emily) and Lissa Orrino (Pam) and 4 great-grandchildren: Manny, Oscar, Frances, and Edith; beloved Aunt, Angie Wright (Eli); siblings: Jean Ziatz-Lanckiewicz (Tony) and John Valadez, sister in-laws Linda Martinez Groditski, Cookie Riley, Christine Valdez (Silas) and Maroline Ritter (Lee-Hi), Marion Martinez, Freida Martinez, and numerous family members in Colorado.
Marie was a loving mother and devoted wife. She was very kind, thoughtful, giving, caring, loving and touched many hearts in so many ways. Marie retired from oil & gas accounting in 1998.
Marie loved spending time with her family. She loved to walk, hike, travel, sing and dance, shop, play games, color, play backyard volleyball, golf, and do yard work. She also enjoyed watching football. She had a great sense of humor and liked to have fun, laugh, and joke around.
A Catholic funeral Mass for Marie will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 10:00 am at Notre Dame Catholic Church – 2190 S Sheridan Blvd.
The committal service will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Shelter A at 12:00 pm. Please arrive by 11:45 pm. Enter at the North gate, take the first immediate right to the area marked as Staging Area A. This is where we will gather prior to the service at the shelter. Please remain in your cars and be ready for the procession to Shelter A.
Immediately following the committal service will be a Celebration of Life at Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2680 W Hampden Ave., Sheridan, CO.
