Joe D. Chavez entered into life in El Carmen, New Mexico on March 20, 1940. He passed peacefully in his home on February 1, 2015, at the age of 74. Joe is survived by his wife, Conferina Chavez, his daughter Cynthia Martinez and husband Manuel Martinez, his son John Chavez and wife Theresa Chavez, five grandchildren, Dominic Martinez, Marissa Martinez, Emilio Chavez, Tiana Chavez, Kiara Chavez, his uncle Clarence Chavez, his Mother-In-Law, Felipita Maes, as well as various brothers & Sisters in-law and close friends. Joe was preceded in death by his mother Mary Chavez.
Joe attended Robertson High school in Las Vegas, New Mexico where he graduated in 1959 and went on to attend Highlands University for one year. In 1963 Joesph Chavez met the beautiful Conferina Maes. In about 1964 Joe relocated to Denver, Colorado where he worked as a Meat Cutter at King Soopers. Joe and Conferina were married in Las Vegas, New Mexico on January 29, 1966. After 40 years of dedicated service with King Soopers, Joe retired in 1999.
