Glenith Virginia Huddleston Kirkham left this world to begin her new life on April 12, 2012. A long time resident of Aurora, she was known as a kind, gentle, yet strong woman who loved her family very much and was an avid gardener and a desert maker extraordinaire. She most often had at least one cake on the table while mixing the next one. And they were always good. While raising her wonderful family, Glenith worked for over 25 years as a Medical Transcriptionist at St. Lukes Hospital in Denver.
Glenith was born December 15, 1921 in Dossett, Tennessee as one of twelve children born to James Carter Glandon (born June 28, 1878 – died June 24th, 1961) and Mary Emily Violet (born December 16, 1890-died December 22, 1975). Glenith was preceded in death by her husband, James Floyd Huddleston (born March 21st, 1915 - died July 30th, 1963). Glenith remarried in 1987 to Loren W. Kirkham who passed away in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Charlie, Ollie, Dorothy, Estel, Kelly, Bud, Raymond, James, and Donald. She is survived by two of her sisters, Evelyn Lindsay of Lake City, Tennessee and Maggie Doss of Maysville, Georgia.
Glenith is also survived by, and has been blessed with a large legacy through her children; David Huddleston of Centennial, Nina Erickson of Aurora, Bill Huddleston of Joplin, Missouri, Mark Huddleston of St. George, Utah and Kenny Huddleston of Joplin, Missouri. Glenith was also blessed with a loving stepson, Loren Kirkham of Aurora.
Glenith’s legacy also continues through her children by having 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Glenith loved flowers of all kinds but especially carnations. She also felt that if you prefer to offer a more lasting gift, a donation to the Hospice of your choice would be appreciated.
