Geraldine (Gerry) Mildred Smith Pinon, living to the young age of 95, remained a wonderful, beautiful, and sweet Godly woman. She had a strong, sharp mind to her last breath, always keeping track of every detail! She had a clever wit and never missed a beat! She was the best counselor and confidante. Gerry took her final trip to be with her Heavenly Father on May 20, 2023.
Gerry was born on August 23, 1927, in Webb, Iowa to Blanche Viola and Herman Ivo Smith. On January 29, 1950, Gerry married her sweetheart, Donald (Don) Ray Pinon. God blessed them with 5 children, 17 grands, 33 greats, and 4 great-greats. Her children are Arla and Gary Nichols of Loveland, Colorado; RaDonna and Jerry Smith of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Donetta and Randy Kirkman of Jefferson City, Missouri; Jerald Ray and Nikke Pinon of Castle Rock, Colorado; and Janice and Craig Embree of Sarasota, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, (of 65 years), her parents, her siblings, Lucy Mae, George, Eldon, Bernice, Icel, and Boyd, her son Jerald Ray, son-in-law Stan, grandson Wesley Ray and great granddaughter Emmi Faye.
Gerry graduated from Monroe City High School at the young age of 16. When she was 22 she married the love of her life (who was two years younger!) and they began their crazy amazing journey of ministry. Gerry supported her husband through thick and thin. She was a truly loving person who loved to socialize and was a major part of the ministry team. They ministered to several churches in the states of Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, and Nebraska. Along with these more permanent homes, they also served and impacted the lives of thousands, preaching and teaching across the United States in weeks, months of revival meetings.
After Don’s passing, Gerry continued to minister to many through her cards, telephone calls, and very lengthy prayer list. Even in her last week, she was calling to encourage. She never missed sending birthday cards and gifts to all of those 100ish family members. The grandkiddos and greats always knew they would receive a handwritten card and $2 bill. She was a true joy and inspiration, more than words can describe.
Gerry will be greatly missed (already is) by all.
