Bobby Gene Sherman, 90, entered eternal rest with God on March 22, 2023. A loving and generous follower of Christ, Bob was born November 29, 1932, to parents Francis Monday and Ruth Pearl Sherman (nee. Armstrong), in Leedy, OK.
Bob helped support his family from the time he was very young, working on his father’s farm. At 17, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean conflict (USS Kaskaskia). In 1950, Bob met Gladys Marie Pierson and they married on August 6, 1952. Bob was stationed in Long Beach, California, and then they moved to Alameda in Northern California to start a family. Bob and Gladys purchased their first home in Hayward, CA where they made lifelong friends before moving to Milpitas, CA in 1967. Bob played Banjo in the Southland Banjo Club. In the early years, Bob worked for Pacific Electric Motor Company, then at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center in Palo Alto on a team that helped build the famous particle accelerator. After they purchased their second home in Milpitas, Bob earned his real estate license, where he then joined the Kiwanis Club and took their family on many delightful vacations over the years. Bob sold homes to thousands of happy families in the Santa Clara Valley, working hard to ensure each transaction was finalized with joy and satisfaction.
Bob loved to golf with friends, entertaining all with continuous music and laughter. In 1994, Bob and Gladys moved to Groveland, CA, where they retired. It was there that Bob joined the Rotary Club and vastly contributed to the building of the Groveland Branch Library and Yosemite Gateway Museum. Bob and Gladys traded seasons between the Sierras and their residence in Florence, AZ. Bob and Gladys moved to Lakewood, CO to be cared for by their family. Bob and Gladys’ love for each other truly lasted a lifetime as they were married for over 70 years. Bob was a selfless individual who always prioritized others and remains a role model and hero to many.
Bob is survived by his wife Gladys, children Gloria Gallegos (Gary), Pamela Hennings, and Matthew Sherman (Lisa), grandchildren John, Autumn, Kyle, Carol Anne, Emily, Madison, Parker and Marshall, great-grandchildren Olive, Lilith, James, Elias, Joaquin, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family. His legacy is made long and vital by his love.
