Alice was a happy homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Urban and Grace Best. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1938 and attended Draughn’s Business College in Oklahoma City, OK where she met and married her one and only, James Leo Jackson in 1940. They moved to Arvada in 1955 and remained together in marriage for 42 years until Leo’s passing in 1982. She will be remembered for her tremendous love of life, family, friends, gardening, and sports especially basketball.
Survivors include her two sons, Rich Jackson of Raleigh, NC and Tim Jackson of Fort Collins, CO; her daughter Jeanine Jackson of Arvada, CO; her sister Mildred O’Bar of Bakersfield, CA; 9 grandchildren including Kelly and Mark Pastore, Darci Kelso, Kristi and Earl Bernard, Jill and Brad Kuch, Jarrett Jochum and Lena Jochum; 9 great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Leo Jackson, parents Urban and Grace Best and brother Urban Best, Jr.
Her memorial service will be held at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO in the Pavilion of Reflection room at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be sent to Habitat for Humanity.
