It is with great sadness to announce the earthly departure of Joseph Eric Reddick on December 19, 2022. Born on April 8, 1947, in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Allister Walter and Frances Olive (Jones) Reddick. Joe was a beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. At a tender age, Joe moved to Alberta. He lived in Edmonton and Calgary for the majority of his life and returned home to Nova Scotia in 2006. He was a jack of all trades and was employed as a truck driver and labourer at various lumber yards and an oil platform.
He loved cars, and he cherished his Dodge Ram. To Joe, his family was everything. He loved his family with all of his heart. Whether it was a phone call, video chat, or visit, he always managed to stay connected with his family. To say the least, Joe was a road runner. You never knew where you would find him. You might see him in New Glasgow, or maybe Halifax. One thing for certain, wherever he was, love was present.
Joe was an outstanding cook, baker, and dancer. He was the life of the party and continued the party until his last days. To know Joe, was to know love. He lived every day as if it was his last. He was often referred to as “The Big Dog”. Carrying this title, Joe would walk around with his chest stuck out, while smiling from ear to ear. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and contagious smile.
Joe was blessed to be a part of a big family, which consisted of siblings from two marriages. He is survived by his sons: Joseph “Lil Joey”; Jeremy; stepdaughter: Sheripha; siblings from the first marriage: Rosie Johnson; Frances Beals; Lois Stenge; Bessie Milton; Wanda Reddick; Melvin “Mitch” Reddick; siblings from the second marriage: Charla “Cambee” Dorrington; Victor Reddick; Nolan Reddick; Neil Reddick; Nathan “Tate” Reddick; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents: Allister and Frances Reddick; brothers: Cecil “Buddy” Reddick; James “Jay” Reddick; Allister “Att” Reddick; special aunt: Phyllis Patterson; and several aunts and uncles.
Cremation has already taken place, and there will be no visitation or funeral at the request of the deceased. A private burial will be held at a later date in Lorne Street Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all those who sent their condolences and prayers. The family is at peace knowing that Joe is reunited with his mother, father, and brothers.
He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. ~ John 8:7
Until we meet again, Big Joe. Rest in Eternal Power.
