Mervin Elvin Smith

Mervin was born on July 31, 1934 near Osage, Saskatchewan to James Alvin Smith and Marie Winnifred Smith (nee Burluraux).

Mervin is predeceased by his father, James Elvin Smith (1949); mother, Marie Smith (1985); brother, Don Smith (2020); sister, Joyce Lynch (2020); brother-in-law, Floyd Keller (2013) and nephew, Brian Keller (1957).

Mervin began farming at the age of 15 in the Osage district when his Dad passed away and was a farmer his entire life.

Mervin will be lovingly remembered by his spouse of 54 years, Rita Smith; daughter, Brenda (Brian) Schwanke; grandchildren: Britteny, Rebecca, and Justin Schwanke; sister, Pearl Keller and family Frank, Glenda (Brian) Wiens, Fern Keller (Andy), John, Jeff (Deana); brother, Ken (Terry) Smith and family, Cameron (Shannon) and Tyler (Amy); brother-in-law, James Lynch and family, Les (Deanne), Brant (Charles Marcoux) and Angela (Trevor) Ogden; sister-in-law, Lorna Smith and family, Brad Smith and Jared (Sandra) Smith as well as many great nieces and great nephews.

A Private Graveside Service and Interment will be held at Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, Saskatchewan.

Pallbearers are Jeff Keller, John Keller, Cameron Smith, Tyler Smith, Jared Smith and Brad Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mervin may be sent to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society.
