It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Mom, Helen Marjorie Stewart (nee Ferris) on February 12, 2010, days after her 90th birthday. Helen was born and raised in Shelburne, Ontario. Here she graduated with honours from grade 13 and achieved a Grade 8 standing at the Royal Conservatory of Music. She moved west to the Prairies after marrying Douglas Fletcher Stewart in 1946, to build their new home. Their hard work and determination benefited their three children. Helen unselfishly devoted her energy to her home, family and the community. She was a hard-working and deserving woman, opinionated and generous, with a passion and flare for music, reading and working with her hands. She was appreciated by all for her culinary talents.
Helen is predeceased by her husband, Douglas Stewart and her infant son, Gregory James. She is survived by daughters: Karen (and Gerry Muir) of Yorkton; Loral Stewart of Calgary and son, Blair Stewart (with Yvette) of Fillmore. She has left four grandchildren: Andrea, Craig, Carter and Jillian and six great grandchildren: Rylie, Brittny, Katelyn, Alexandra, Mackenzie and Matthew, all of whom she loved dearly. Helen will also be remembered by her nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be held April 10th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, Saskatchewan; to remember her life and to pay respect to our Mom who has been loved and will be remembered by all. A special thank-you to all staff of the Fillmore Health Centre who cared for our Mother in her later years and helped make each day a pleasant one for her. Arrangements entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Chapels Ltd., Weyburn, Saskatchewan (306-84205432). Condolences to Helen’s family may be left at www.fletcherfuneralchapel.com
