Helen was predeceased by her parents, Vincent & Cecilia Ludwig; daughter, Shirley Anne Mus; husband, John Mus and sister, Hermine Young.
Helen was born to Vincent and Cecilia Ludwig in Browning, Saskatchewan on August 17, 1930. She spent her early years living in Browning and later at Middle Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1944 they moved to Fort William which is now Thunder Bay, Ontario. They would move back to Browning a few years later. Helen went to normal school in Moose Jaw where she received her teaching certificate. The first school she taught at that was the Polish Draw School District near Cedoux, Saskatchewan. It was there she met the love of her life, John Mus. They were married in November 1952. Helen continued to teach the next year at Riverview where they had a suite in the basement of the school. After that they moved to Cedoux, where they lived until 1966. It was there they raised their family. Shirley was born in 1953, Brenda in 1955, Cindy in 1956 and Rod in 1961. In 1966, they moved to Weyburn. Helen kept busy with her life. She loved bowling and curling, just to name a few. On December 24, 1971 they lost their oldest daughter, Shirley who was coming home for Christmas, our mom never got over that. Christmas was always a sad time instead of a happy time. Helen started working at Souris Valley in 1972 and continued working there until 1989, but she did not retire. Following her time at Souris Valley she spent all of her days at their moving company. In January 2001, John passed away. Helen had a great love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially loved to babysit all of them and they all have wonderful memories of her. Helen will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Helen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brenda of Weyburn, SK; daughter, Cindy (David) Somerville of Abbotsford, BC; son, Rod (Diane) Mus of Weyburn, SK; grandchildren: Wendy (Rory) Scrupps, Becky Krauss, Lee McLeod (Lacey), Georgina (Brett) Gibson, Chris Somerville (Gillian), Matthew Somerville; Aaron Somerville, Jarek Mus (Alana) and Regan Mus (Gabriella); great grandchildren: Bodey, Aadyn, Reid, Nate, Berke, Marcus, Michael, Adam and Crystal; siblings: Rita Walliser, Josephine Schmidt, Leonard Ludwig, Marie Sloboshan, Allan (Sharon) Ludwig, Audrey Neis, Dave Ludwig and Wayne (Linda) Ludwig as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
A Funeral for Family & Close friends will be held Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Father Valentine Amobi officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
Honourary Pallbearers will be Lee McLeod, Chris Somerville, Matthew Somerville, Aaron, Somerville, Jarek Mus and Regan Mus.
