Warren George Viele

It is with great sadness that the family of Warren George Viele, 89, of Glastonbury, CT, announces his passing on Sunday, December 1st, 2024. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sue (Boyton) Viele. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan E. Viele, and wife, Marjorie (Abeles) Viele, the mother of his two children.

Warren will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his two children, Laura Capobianco and her husband, Thomas, of Ocala, FL, and Bret Viele of Glastonbury, CT. He is also survived by three beloved grandchildren: Christina Such and her husband, Steve, of Fishers, IN; Thomas Capobianco Jr. and his wife, Alexa, of Springfield, MA; and Christopher Capobianco and his wife, Sarah, of Wethersfield, CT. Warren was blessed to meet and love his three great-grandchildren: Gaetano, Luca, and Matteo Capobianco.

Warren was predeceased by his parents, Robert B. and Bertha C. (Schultz) Viele, as well as his brother, Robert B. Viele Jr., and sister-in-law, Eleanor. He leaves behind his brother, Richard, and wife Ellen Viele of Hebron, CT; sister-in-law, Maureen Viele of St. Petersburg, FL; and brother-in-law, Harold, and his wife, Mary Abeles, of Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Born on January 3, 1935, and raised in Glastonbury, CT, Warren was a dedicated, hard-working man with a passion for learning. He earned an Audio Visual certificate and was a lifelong lover of Turner Classic Movies. Warren attended Highpoint College in North Carolina and the University of Hartford, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.

Warren was an avid traveler who loved nature, particularly the mountains, and was a devoted member of the First Church of Christ Congregational in Wethersfield, CT, where he attended weekly services. He also volunteered his time visiting convalescent homes, offering companionship and spreading joy.

Warren spent 35 years working at Glastonbury Hardware before retiring. He was well-known and loved in his community—not only for his dedication to his work but also for his kindness, generosity, and positive outlook on life. Warren was involved in numerous charitable organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, The Children's Fund International, Food for the Poor, Operation Smile, St. Jude, and many more. He was the kind of person who always gave back and spread positivity wherever he went. His infectious joy touched everyone around him, and he will be remembered for his warmth, unwavering commitment to making the world a better place, and his ability to bring light into any room.

A celebration of Warren’s life will be held on Saturday, January 4, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 250 Main St., Wethersfield, CT. Internment will follow at Green Cemetery, Hubbard St., Glastonbury. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel of Wethersfield has been entrusted with Warren’s funeral arrangements.
