Virginia (Sha) Lucy King Zox, 81, of Colchester, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Chestelm Health and Rehabilitation Center of Moodus surrounded by family. She was the widow of the late Larry Zox.
Born in Pittsfield, MA, on November 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Florence King. Sha spent many years living in NYC and enjoyed all it had to offer, especially its energy, music and fine arts. She worked as a server at the Lion’s Head in Greenwich Village and met many celebrities along the way. Sha eventually moved back to her family’s cottage on Lake Hayward where she and Larry made many friends in the community.
Sha loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was a talented photographer and artist, always gifting beautiful cards featuring her photographs and wrapping gifts in homemade papers decorated with wildlife. Sha loved her daily phone calls to her sisters.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Eric Knapp and his wife Eileen of Wethersfield and Alexander Zox and his wife Tiffany of Cranston, Rhode Island; a daughter, Melinda Zox-Stewart and her husband Timothy of East Moriches, NY; five grandchildren, Dylan and Andrew Knapp, Amber and Emily Stewart and Max Zox; a brother, David Prentice of New York, NY; and two sisters, Marilyn Davis of Berlin and Jessie King and her husband Alva Lowe of Steuben, Maine. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, T. William Knapp; son, Kyle Knapp and brother, Paul King.
A celebration of Virginia’s life will take place at a later date. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
