Miguel was born on July 27, 1938, in Puerto Rico, the son of the late Cesario Cabrera and Josefa Garcia. He was lovingly raised by his maternal aunt, Aurelia Garcia, and her husband, Bruno Torres. Miguel spent his early years in Puerto Rico before moving to Connecticut, where he built a life and career as a contractor before retiring.
Miguel will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, vibrant personality, and the joy he brought to those around him. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh, was an avid reader, and was deeply devoted to his faith. Above all, Miguel was a dedicated family man. His family was his greatest pride, and he found his happiest moments surrounded by them.
In addition to his wife, Miguel is survived by his loving children: Maritza C. Luna and her husband, Norberto Luna, of Florida; Miguel A. Cabrera Jr. and Kan Heap of Manchester; Mayra Cabrera of Manchester; Yolanda Cabrera-Sybesma and her husband, Hielke H. Sybesma, of the Netherlands; Mabel Cabrera of Manchester; and Orlando Cabrera of New Hampshire. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Miguel is survived by his brothers, Cesario and Vicente, and his sisters, Ana and Margot, all of Puerto Rico. He was predeceased by his siblings, Tito and Abad. Miguel is now reunited with his beloved son, Osvaldo Cabrera Santiago, who predeceased him in 2017.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. Burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Fairfield Avenue, Hartford.
