Marianina “Marion” Occhineri, 89, of West Hartford, beloved wife of Angelo Occhineri, Jr. and devoted mother of six children passed peacefully in her home of 60 years. Her husband of 65 years was by her side. Born in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of Italian immigrants, the late Antonio and Maria Brescia from San Basile, Italy. She was raised in the Bronx, NY until 17 when the family moved back to the South End of Hartford where she attended Buckley high school and graduated a year early. She worked at Dunn & Bradstreet until meeting her soon to be husband, Angelo. Together, they raised six children. Her family always came first and foremost in all she did. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, belonging to the local quilt clubs. Her love of nature and gardening led her to participate in many garden clubs and craft shows. Her home was always filled with her craft whether it be clothes for her family, quilts or the aroma of her fresh baked breads, cakes, pies and homemade pasta sauces - she believed in the purity of life creating everything from ""scratch"". She received many accolades from her family and friends for her ""perfect pie crust"". Marion was a devout Catholic, member of the Ladies of Columbus, and enjoyed serving the Lord for many years as a CCD teacher at St. Mark's Evangelist Church in West Hartford. A prolific reader, especially reading about US history and mystery novels, she loved to travel the US with her family to share the history she read so much about. She was natural beauty in her youth, a beauty which still radiated later in life in her luminous blue eyes and warm smile. She was predeceased by her sister, Angelina Sardo, her brother, Frank Brescia and daughters Linda Lucca and Diane Occhineri. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Harrison and her son Jonathan; son Peter Occhineri his wife Marita and their son Mathew; daughter Marie Koepke her husband Timothy and their daughters Marina and Sofia; son Mark Occhineri; son-in-law Frank Lucca; niece Diane Carlson her husband Kent and their children Angela, Teresa and Anthony; nephew Frank Sardo and family; brother Michael Brescia and his sons Blaze and Eric; nephews Robert, Anthony and Andrew Brescia.
