Barbara Ford, 80, passed away peacefully Monday, September 2, 2019 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Bristol, Barbara spent much of her life in Wethersfield. Along with her husband Charles, she was the founder and owner of House of Images Custom Framing and Art Gallery in Old Wethersfield for 42 years, retiring in 2017. She was one of the founding members of the Old Wethersfield Shop Keepers Association in 1976 and served as secretary, treasurer and vice president. She was very active in the book club, gardening club and Sacred Heart Church. Barbara was the person who proposed the idea of the “Scarecrows along Main Street” event to the Old Wethersfield Shop Keepers Association, an event now entering into the 18th year, drawing many visitors from the greater Hartford area and other parts of the State. She enjoyed rooting for the UConn Huskies, taking walks and engaging in lively conversations, which were punctuated by her infectious laughter. However, her family was the center of her life. In addition to her loving husband Charlie, she leaves her son Christopher and his wife Amy and their daughters Madison and Hailey, son Patrick and his wife Deanna and their daughters Riley and Avery. She is also survived by her devoted sisters, Patricia Hennessey, Bette Knoblauch, Kitty Price and Nance Kriscenski, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Alex Kriscenski and sister, Joan Ingersoll.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 6th from 4-6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7th 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Sacred Heart Church), 56 Hartford Avenue, Wethersfield.
