Eleanor Fanelli, 90, of Manchester, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Eleanor was born April 16,1934 in Hartford, the daughter of the late George and Nicoletta (Lamarra) Fanelli. She was a graduate of St. Augustine School and the former Mount Saint Joseph Academy in West Hartford, class of 1952.
Eleanor worked for many years in real estate related businesses. She was an active member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Manchester. She enjoyed books, puzzles, retirement winter trips to Myrtle Beach and yearly retreats at The Holy Family Retreat Center in West Hartford. She was a woman of deep faith and treasured the time she spent with loved ones.
Eleanor, a beloved aunt, is survived by nieces, JoAnn (John) Flanagan of Savage, MN, Ann Marie Blanco of Manchester, Nicolette Blanco of Natick, MA, and Tina Fanelli of Virginia Beach, VA; nephew, George (Angela) Fanelli of Zebulon, N.C.; great-nieces, Janet (Chase) Johnson, Erin Archibald, Isabella and Chloe Fanelli and Ambriana Kline; great-nephews, John (Alexis) Flanagan, Conor Archibald and Timo Kline; great-great-nephew, Bradley Johnson and great-great-nieces, Ryleigh Johnson and Joelle Flanagan. She is also survived by numerous cousins and a wide circle of both old friends, and new friends at Arbors of Hop Brook in Manchester, where she resided for the last 5 years.
Eleanor was predeceased by her sister, Rose Fanelli Blanco; brothers, Joseph J. Fanelli and Rev. James G. Fanelli; nephew, Timo Fanelli; brother-in-law, Angelo J. Blanco and sister-in-law, Pirkko Fanelli.
The family would like to thank Arbors of Hop Brook, Beacon Hospice Care, and Faith Care and Companion Services for their compassionate care, allowing Eleanor to remain at home among her friends.
Friends and relatives may pay respects to the family, Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Interment will follow the Mass in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield (Section Y).
