She was born to the late Arnulfo and Gliceria Tirol, August 19,1934 in Tangalan, Aklan, Philippines. Venus graduated from Northwestern Visayan College High School in 1952 and received her B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of St. Augustine in 1957. She then received her degree in Cytotechnology from Temple University, Philadelphia in 1964.
Venus worked as a Cytologist for over 30 years and as a Manager of Cytology at Corning Clinical Laboratories (formerly MetPath) for 20 years. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and watching baseball. Venus was a big fan of the NY Yankees and always enjoyed watching the games. She also enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City.
Known for her Kindness, Generosity, and Loving nature, Venus will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Venus’ family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life not the sadness of her passing. She is predeceased by her husband Ronaldo Garde and is survived by 2 children, Desiree Garde-Saunders of Emerson, NJ, and Arvee Garde of Astoria, NY. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Devyn, Keegan, Mikey, and Cameryn and her beloved dog, Little.
Viewing ceremony will be held at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd., Westwood, NJ on Friday, June 7 from 4:00-8:00 PM. A Mass celebrating Venus' life and faith will be held at R.C. Church Of The Assumption in Emerson, NJ on Saturday, June 8 at 9:30 AM with private cremation to follow. Flowers and memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary.
