Emerson - Marilyn K. Forshay, formerly of Emerson, died peacefully on May 8 after a brief illness. She was 86. Preceded in death by her best friend and husband of 51 years, Edward, her sister, Carol Ann, and her parents, Helen (Meyer) and Frederick. Loving wife of Edward. Devoted mother of Christopher, Paul, Andrew, and Jeanne. Doting grandmother of Alana, Amy, Brendan, Katrina, Kendall, Kyle, Luke, Noah, Patrick, and Shannon. Daily communicant for many years at Church of the Assumption R.C. Former member of the Pascack Valley Hospital Association. Enthusiastic supporter of the Roadrunners Booster Club at Assumption School. Retired "doyenne" (her husband's affectionate term) of the Emerson Public Library.
Marilyn loved her family, mystery novels, the New York Times crossword puzzles, and sports. A long-suffering spousal fan of the New York Giants, she attended many home openers with her husband at Giants Stadium. She also loved working at the library--it is impossible to overstate how much.
The Forshay family would like to thank the friends and neighbors who assisted Marilyn in her later years on Highland Avenue, as well as all the good people who made her smile.
Marilyn is survived by her three sons, Christopher, of San Rafael, Calif., Paul, of Woodbridge, Va. and Andrew, of Marlton, N.J.; her daughter, Jeanne Whiteside, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; her niece, Suzanne Wiggins, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and her 10 grandchildren.
Marilyn was loved by many and a friend to all. We will not see her like again.
The family will receive friends at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood on Thursday, May 23, from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Church of the Assumption on Friday, May 24 at 9:30 a.m.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Emerson Public Library, 20 Palisade Ave., Emerson, N.J. 07630.
