John H Holter, 70, Emerson, NJ, passed away suddenly surrounded by his family and friends on March 22, 2021. He is preceded in death by his brothers, George & Hugh, his parents, George, and Marie (Parle) and his wife and soulmate Elaine as well as his fur babies, Fred & Bummer.
John worked with his wife, Elaine, owning his own business for over fifteen years. He devoted himself to making sure your vehicle was operating in top shape at Alpine Texaco & Alpine Shell. His beloved wife, Elaine, worked by his side. John also owned and operated Alpine Snowplowing for over forty years. Keeping his customers driveways safe and passable from storm to storm.
John graduated from Pascack Valley High School as well as graduated from the Mercedes Benz Technician Training program and the General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program. John never started his day without a cigarette and a soda. He loved the community in which he lived as well as the people he communicated with daily. John loved spending time with his family and friends. When he was not working John devoted himself to two fire companies. For over forty years John has been a member of the Alpine Fire Company. For over 30 years, John has been a member of the Emerson Fire Company. John had the honor and pleasure of being the Fire Chief of Emerson for two years during his time at their house. John also devoted his time to boating and flying control line/RC airplanes.
John is survived by his three children, John & Mike of Emerson, and Gina wife of Jay Guadagnino of NY, a brother, Michael and his wife, Donna of Colorado. He is also survived by nieces, Dr, Janene Holter/Solarczyk and husband Joe of Pennsylvania, Kathy Holter, Pennsylvania, and Kimberly Holter of Colorado and a nephew, Michael Jr of Arizona. He has two grandchildren Ayden and Sydney Guadagnino of NY.
John will be greatly missed by his children, his family, friends, and the people whose lives he touched every day. As John would do anything for anyone at anytime day or night.
The family will receive their relatives and friends on Monday from 4-8 pm at Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, with a Fireman's Service at 7:00 pm. John will be buried with full Fireman's Honors on Tuesday at 11:00 am in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Cedar Lane, River Vale.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Emerson Fire Company, 146 Thomas Avenue, Emerson, NJ 07630. All proceeds will be used to obtain a memorial table for the firehouse in memory of John Holter for his never-ending dedication and service to the fire company and his fellow firefighters.
