John F. Casey formerly of County Sligo; Taverane passed away in Emerson, New Jersey on December 17, 2022, at the age of 92. He is survived by his brother Christy Casey, sisters Liz Lewry, late Mary O’Sullivan and Noreen Finn; his adoring 20 nieces and nephews and dozens of grand-nieces and grand-nephews. John immigrated to New York City in 1949 and became a U.S. citizen. He served in the U.S. Army and worked at New York Bell for over 30 years.
At night he earned his GED and then graduated from Fordham University. John was a confirmed bachelor and stepped up to help raise his four nieces from Allendale, New Jersey. John practiced yoga before it was trendy and was an avid golfer. He loved his dog Major and was a devout Catholic.
A celebration of John’s life will take place December 22nd from 12:00-2:00 at Becker Funeral Home in Westwood New Jersey.
