Elsie E. Schmidt, 88 years old of Old Tappan, NJ passed away on January 20, 2015. Born in Weehawken, NJ she lived in West New York, NJ before moving to Old Tappan, NJ in 1963. She graduated from Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ and was a member of the Rotary Club in Lodi. Elsie started her 15 + years career as the aquatic director for the Boys and Girls Club of Lodi and later she became the executive director. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Schmidt; her sons, Robert Schmidt, Jr. and his wife Donna and Andrew Schmidt and his wife Kim; her grandchildren, Autumn, Daniel, Dana, Eric, Kerri and Kristen and 6 great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held on Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Becker Funeral Home. A private cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure at ww5.komen.org in Elsie’s memory.
