Elizabeth M. Hodgins, of Park Ridge, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 26th, 2023. She was born on December 17th, 1931 in Englewood, NJ to Elizabeth C. Boyan and Andrew Thomas Boyan. She graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in 1949. She began a career as a professional dancer. She toured the U.S. with the Roxyettes, a pre-Rockette dance troupe. Elizabeth ultimately became a June Taylor dancer and performed on the Jackie Gleason Show.
She met William Hodgins in 1955 and married in 1956 and devoted herself to raising a family. At the age of 40 she began nursing school at Bergen Community College achieving her RN. She worked at Bergen Regional Hospital until her retirement in 1996. She was a proud lifetime member of the Tri-Boro Ambulance Corps.
Elizabeth is pre-deceased by her beloved husband William B. Hodgins, cherished sister Karen A Soares, and brother Andrew Boyan Jr. She was a devoted mother to Nancy (Gil), William, Andrew (Susan) and David; a loving grandmother to Gregory, Larissa, Jonathan, Matthew and David as well as a joyful Great-Grandmother to William “Cooper” and Benjamin.
The family will receive their relatives and friends at Becker Funeral Home 219 Kinderkamack Road, Westwood, NJ, on Wednesday, July 5th from 3:30-7PM. A Mass celebrating Elizabeth’s life and faith will be held at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, Park Ridge, NJ, on Thursday, July 6th at 10:30AM with interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Tenafly, NJ to follow.
