Bernadine Revie

Bernadine was the oldest daughter of William and Adel Bliven and was raised in Ridgewood, NJ. Bernadine was the beloved wife of Peter Revie, mother of Peter, David, and Andrew, grandmother of Mason, Morgan, Ronan, and Shane. Her family was the joy of her life.

Bernadine was a Registered Nurse whose career spanned fifty years. She began her career in the Surgical ICU at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Then as children came along she did private duty nursing until the children matured and she returned to critical care nursing in the recovery room at Valley Hospital. For Bernadine nursing was not just a job, and not simply a career, but was a calling to care for the sick that she embraced passionately. Even after retiring from active nursing she volunteered at Valley Hospital to assist in the recovery room and later to give comfort to patients in the Valley Hospital breast center. She continued on to become a certified CPR instructor and taught CPR until her final illness.

Her care for people extended beyond nursing. Whenever she encountered a friend or acquaintance sick or in need she did her utmost to ease their suffering. Her good humor and open heart made all who encountered her smile. She was beloved by both friends and family and will be sorely missed.
