Born in New York City, Ann had an adventurous life. Ann was the daughter of Elizabeth Sheldon Salmon and Thomas Kingerlee Salmon. She moved to Italy with her parents at the age of 2 ½, learning Italian from her Nanny prior to learning English. Ann grew up in Yonkers, NY attending Gorton High School, Class of 1948 - along with many summers spent in her beloved Dorset, VT. Ann attended Vassar College. Ann’s early career included secretarial work in law offices, US News and World Repot and NY headquarters of the Lutheran Church.
Ann met her future husband, H. Gilbert Lahm, Jr. the summer of 1953, in Silver Bay, Lake George, NY. After marriage in May 1954, Ann & Gil briefly moved to Washington DC while Gil was stationed in the army at Walter Reed Medical Center.
Ann & Gil spent much of their married life in their home in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. While living there, they were extremely devoted to their Hillsdale United Methodist Church through Ann’s membership in the women’s organization, church bazaars and choir and Gil’s help with the Finance Committee and street fairs. Ann also spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader in Woodcliff Lake and taking baby pictures at Pascack Valley Hospital. Just prior to the addition of grandchildren, Ann ventured to Israel with her church group which was a trip of a lifetime for Ann. Once grandchildren were born, Ann helped in taking care of the kids, which gave Ann great pleasure.
