James Harold Goble entered the presence of the Lord on September 4, 2019 after a brief illness. He was a resident of Westminster, California. He was born to the late Bisby Goble and Ora Ethel (Brown) Goble on May 15, 1921. He was 98 years old.
James was a World War II veteran and POW survivor. He was awarded several decorations and citations including a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Upon returning from the war in Europe, he worked 44 years as a Senior Distribution Manager for Union Carbide Corporation.
From the time as a young boy that he and his two brothers, accepted Christ as their Savior while attending Coalmont Baptist Church, he was active in the church. He used to love to tell the story of how they broke ice in the river for him to be baptized. One of the greatest enjoyments of his life was singing. He sang in several gospel quartets, always the tenor. He loved baseball and was described as a “good ballplayer”. He loved his family and always tried to help. He enjoyed attending POW meetings and they called him “a Christian gentleman and hero of the Greatest Generation”. He was faithful to the end.
He was preceded in death by wife Doris Marie (Wolfe) Goble, son Timothy Wayne Goble (Toni), brother Norman Goble (Lucille) brother Warren Goble (Etta) and nephew Jeff Goble.
He is survived by wife Janet Goble, son Wes Goble (Merna), grandchildren Karen, Carolyn, James, Jennifer, and Joshua. He is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, September 19,2019 at 9:00 AM at Westminster Memorial Park, 14801 Beach Blvd. Westminster, California 92683. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM 14801 Beach Blvd., Westminster, Ca.92683.
A final blessing & interment will occur Thursday, September 19, 2019 at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA. 92518.
