Daniel Gray, lovingly known as “Boone” by family and friends was the tenth child of fourteen born to Henry and Georgia Gray on April 30, 1930, in Orange, CA. and went Home October 7, 2024. He was 94 years old.
A Christian most of his life, he is remembered for his adventurous spirit, and a most loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend.
Daniel served proudly as a private in the Korean War in the Administration Department where his expertise in business was greatly appreciated.
Daniel married his beautiful wife, Corrine in 1959 and raised three daughters, Valerie, Genevra, and Dana. Corrine preceded him in death in 1992.
In his later life, he began to work with private businesses, being sent to various countries, meeting presidents, royalty and most often bringing vats of ice cream for children’s hospitals in the visiting country when escorting medicines for young cancer patients.
He became involved in missions at this time, occasionally accompanied by Corrine and together they shared the love of Jesus wherever they went.
In his last years his health began to decline and a wonderful caretaker, Ann Accordino came into his life to help him with his home, cooking fabulous meals and driving him to his appointments. Though he loved everything she cooked, he couldn’t wait for Del Taco’s Taco Tuesday and an occasional banana split!
On the evening of October 7, 2024, he slipped quietly away in his bed and joined his beloved wife and his awaiting family members in Heaven.
Daniel is survived by his three daughters, Valerie Nathanson (Mark), Genevra Bonati (John), and Dana Cornelison (Bobby), 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a myriad of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives who loved and will miss him.
He will rest in peace at Riverside National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be held in July at Carpinteria State park in July. Details to follow soon.
