Carolyn Maria (Lovas) Arnsperger of Westminster passed away peacefully Sunday, September 29, 2019 after a brief illness at the age of 84. The beloved daughter of the late Mike and Yolanda Lovas, Carol was born on August 25, 1935. She spent the first half of her life on Long Island, in NY where she graduated from Woodmere High School, attended Hofstra University and was a resident of Massapequa NY for over 30 years.
In 1987, she moved to California and settled in Westminster, close to her two daughters and two brothers and worked for the Disney Company until her retirement. Carol was a frequent and treasured volunteer at Disney Charitable Events.
Carol was an active member of St. Barbara’s Parish. She brought Mass to disabled adults of Hyland House weekly for years. Carol was a valued member of the Royal Gardens Estate Community; where she will be remembered for her many years as secretary and treasurer of Royal Garden Estates, coordinator of the Bunco games and an esteemed, patriotic speaker at the annual 4th of July celebrations.
Lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, she is survived by her five children; Thom, Robin, Tracey, Bobby and Christyn; her three grandchildren; Christopher, Katie and Leslie; her two brothers Michael and Gene; and her niece Paige, nephew Jeffery and grandnephew Austin.
Additional sentiments from her family: "Mom was a great cook, she loved to cook a variety of Hungarian dishes for the family, especially during the holidays. She loved being with her large family and extended family, it was always a joyous and festive occasion. Christmas brings back wonderful memories of decorating the tree on Christmas eve with mom and all our siblings. She always made Christmas a special holiday with beautifully wrapped presents and homemade goodies and decorations. She was crafty and creative in every way, she sewed, made beautiful crocheted blankets, she even re-upholstered furniture. Mom liked to bowl, ice-skate, she belonged to a bunco club and was very involved in her church. She worked with the mentally and physically challenged with Hyland House for many years. She was the most loving person with everyone who knew her, she loved her pets, including her Chihuahuas and rescue dogs. She was a reliable and devoted mother and friend who never slept, because she wanted to be there for anyone who needed her."
We selected Children's Hospital of Orange County for donations in Mom's memory because she selflessly selected this cause in lieu of gifts for her 60th birthday. She loved donating her time, talent and treasure to those in need. Carol will always be remembered as someone who put others before herself and gave of herself daily.
Donations can be left in Carol’s honor at: the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC).
