Roy Michael Panaguiton Siaotong, born February 16, 1969, in Iloilo, Philippines, was raised on Guam and settled in California where he lived a happy and rewarding life. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.
A graduate of Father Duenas High School, Mangilao, Guam in 1987, he studied at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, HI before transferring and graduating with a major in business and accounting at CSU Dominguez Hills, Carson, CA in 1991. Roy went on to work at Capitol Records, where he met his wife, Phala. He received a Juris Doctor at Loyola Law School, Los Angels, CA in 2000 and passed the state bar exam in 2001. Roy continued work as an independent lawyer and at Metro Goldwyn Mayer. He then worked at Sony Entertainment for many years and raised his family in Agoura Hills, CA.
He served in the Army Reserve 368th Military Police, Guam, the Hawaiian National Guard 29th Infantry, HI and the California National Guard 40th Military Police, Los Alamitos, CA which deployed in the Los Angeles. He appeared in full gear on the cover of a book by the LA Times covering the 1992 riots.
Roy grew up reading books and graphic novels. He was an avid reader of science fiction, classics and fantasy with an enduring interest in the work of JRR Tolkien. His abundant ideas and creativity were expressed through his writing and artwork. He possessed great skill in conversation while often sharing his genuine and humorous insight.
He is survived by his wife, Phala Somreth; his children, Athena and Aidan; his parents, Al and Sonia; his sister, Rachel and brother, Alvin. He is remembered by his own extended family and by his wife’s family.
