K.C. (Kenton Christopher) Hackman, 42, passed to heaven on Sunday evening, Nov 16, 2014, surrounded by his family, friends and Klaus, his cherished dog, after a long and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the wonderful son of Bill & Deanna Hackman and the amazing big brother to his beloved sister, Holly.
K.C. was born on Apr 29, 1972 at Los Robles Hospital and grew up in Thousand Oaks, where he made many lifelong friends. He enjoyed his career in real estate and finance for several years, but he always loved the outdoors and watching things grow which stimulated his passion for organic gardening. He was an avid fisherman and found fly fishing to be his absolute favorite past-time. He loved to travel and his semester abroad was a cherished experience in his life where he made many great friends throughout Europe.
K.C. was pure, smart, genuine and gracious beyond words. He was quite a charmer and used his natural wit to leave a smile on the face of everyone he met. Lending a helping hand and putting everyone else before himself was a priority in his life. He had a true heart of gold and endless words of encouragement for everyone.
We are truly proud of our K.C. and he will be immensely missed by his parents, sister, dog, fur-nephew Buster, aunts, uncles, cousins and an endless amount of friends. A generous soul like his lingers and it is the aroma of a beautiful life; the world is a sadder place without him in it.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in K.C.’s honor to:
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation: jdrf.org or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network: Pancan.org
A Visitation will be held Fri, Nov 21st from 6-8pm at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Mortuary in Westlake Village. A Celebration of K.C.’s life will be held Sat, Nov 22nd at 2pm in the same chapel, with interment to follow at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village.
