On Sunday, March 3, 2024, our beloved matriarch, Janice Ruth Siracusa, went home to be with the Lord. She was welcomed with open arms by her mother, Carrie Shetler, her father, Carl Shetler, and sister, Ernestine Pensabene. Jan was born in Syracuse, NY on Sept. 26, 1930, and grew up with her siblings: Frederick Shetler, June Britton, and Carol Cupelo, who await to join her when they are also called home.
She met and married the love of her life, John Peter Siracusa, in 1952, and they just celebrated 72 years in February. Their honeymoon years were spent in Auburn, where they welcomed 2 children, Lynn Carol Doty (Mike), and John David Siracusa (Elizabeth). They moved to SoCal in 1957 and settled in Thousand Oaks where they were joined by a third child, Colleen Sue Howard (Brion).
Jan and John enjoyed a happy and loving relationship and through the years had many adventures together. They loved to travel, sing, and just be in each other's company. Jan loved her family and was happiest surrounded by her loving grandchildren: Alisa, Heather (Rob), Amber (Matt), Joshua (Allison), Nicholi (Melissa), Nate (Jenny), and Harmony. She was GiGi to her beloved great-grandchildren: Carson, Wesley, Calum, Hazel, Ava, Maya, Ian, Kaleb, Cannon, Giovanni, Kyle, Amanda, Zachary, and Adeline. She also had many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Jan.
Jan was a gentle soul who had a positive impact on all who knew her. Her presence will be greatly missed.
