Charles "Chip" Vaughan Bell

Charles Vaughan “Chip” Bell, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Westlake Village, California, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, after a courageous four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 65 years old.

Chip was born on November 14, 1957, in Lake Jackson, Texas. He grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he graduated from Broadmoor High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Louisiana State University. After starting out in in Accounting, Chip soon gravitated to Human Resources, where he earned the respect of his peers throughout an impressive career in Compensation and Benefits, serving as Global Director for The Dow Chemical Company and then Vice-President for Amgen, Albemarle Corporation, and The Trade Desk. He was valued for his deep expertise and wise counsel.

Chip was a devoted LSU fan, continuing to hold football season tickets while living in California. He was a member of the Porsche Club of America and enjoyed their many activities in California and beyond. He especially looked forward to Thursday drives and lunches with his close friends here in town. He was an avid reader, loved music and concerts, and enjoyed the comradery and wit of his Fantasy Football League. He was a great horse show dad.

Chip is survived by his devoted wife of almost 46 years, Donna Polito Bell; their four children whom he was immensely proud of, Melissa Bell, Chris Bell (Jenna), David Bell, and Lauren Bell; two adored granddaughters, Lucy Bell and Lillian Bell; and brothers Tom Bell and John Bell. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sarah Bell, and his stepmother Billie Bell.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks-Griffin Memorial Park, 5600 Lindero Canyon Road, Westlake Village, California.

The family wishes to thank the many doctors and nurses who provided care for Chip as he fought this devastating disease, particularly Dr. Sam and his compassionate staff. We are forever grateful for the gift of time that we were given.
