Amy was born to Walter Russell Hedrick III (Russ) and Mary Anne Hedrick November 21, 1973 in Honolulu, Hawaii. After attending La Reina High School, she graduated from Westlake High School in 1991, then received a BA Speech Communications from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1996. She then went on to complete her education at Cal State Long Beach, receiving a Masters in Social Work in 2004.
Amy married Conor Sever in 2007 at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Westlake Village, California; they then set up their home in nearby Newbury Park. She is survived by Conor and her three children, Claire, 11, Alyse, 9 and Frank, 4; Amy is also survived by her father Russ Hedrick, mother Mary Anne Hedrick, brother Rusty Hedrick and half brother Philip Hedrick, as well as a host of other family and friends.
While studying at Cal State Long Beach, Amy also worked as the Volunteer Coordinator for Volunteer Services at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. After meeting Conor in 2004, she worked as a clinical social worker for several years, also at Cedars Sinai. In 2016, she fulfilled a long-held ambition and became a licensed clinical social worker, with a desire to eventually set up her own practice.
Amy's strong faith in Jesus was the centerpiece of her life with Conor and her children. Recently, that faith became even deeper, as she joyfully told close family and friends about the amazing moment when Jesus' grace and love became more real to her than ever. Knowing the reality and depth of her faith leaves an indelible memory for Conor and the children, as well as for the rest of her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3rd at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Newbury Park, followed by burial at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village. A reception will then be held back at St. Julie's. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
