Ruth Walker, 92, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015. She was born in Clarks, LA. on September 25, 1923. She attended Nursing School at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She joined the Army Nurse corp as a Second Lt. in World War II and was awarded the Victory Medal. She married Earl E. Walker (who outranked her) and lived in many states and abroad as a military wife. She settled in Westlake in 1962 and lived there till just recently. Also, she worked in the ER and OR of St. Patrick’s Hospital as an RN for two decades. In later years, she enjoyed lunches and Bingo at the Senior Center in Westlake. She was also an avid reader, shopper and fan of QVC.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Clark and husband Creighton of Ragley, LA., and Kerry Evans and husband Richard of Sulphur. Also, she is survived by a brother Kenneth Pettijohn and wife Beverly of Westlake, two granddaughters Kathleen and Holly, a sister-in-law Etta Pettijohn, many nieces and nephews, and dear friends and adopted grandkids Bobby and Peggy Butterfield.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Earl E. Walker, her parents, Wayne and Delora Pettijohn, two brothers, Alan “Buddy” Pettijohn, Wayne “Sony” Pettijohn, and a sister, Billie Jo Chisholm.
Services will be held at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 3:00pm. Visitation will be held the same day on Friday from 2:00pm until the time of the service.
