John died peacefully at home with Barbara, his loving wife of 61 years, at his side. He was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He attended Alexandria High School where some of his Track & Field records still stand. He served in the RCAF in WWII. He settled in Vancouver where he met Barbara (Austin). They raised their family in West Vancouver and enjoyed many summers at the “Farm” on Shuswap Lake. John worked in the Insurance Industry becoming Manager of the UAB Pacific Division. He then spent 10 years as a Private Consultant, retiring at age 75. John loved to golf and spent many years at Capilano Golf Club trying to perfect his game. They spent many winters golfing in Monterrey.
John was a hard-working, dedicated family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his wife Barbara , his children Ian, Kathryn (James) and Gordon (Dara) and grandchildren Cameron, Ryan, Erin, Emily and Hannah, as well as nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Marion (McMillan) and Jenne (May).
A memorial gathering will be held later this summer. Donations, if desired, may be made to the West Vancouver Stroke Recovery Centre.
