1928-2014
Rex passed away in his sleep on October 4, 2014 at the South Granville Park Lodge in his 86th year. Rex was an only child, born to Jack and Marjorie DesBrisay in Vancouver in October, 1928. He grew up in West Vancouver and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from UBC in 1950. Rex stared his career as a teacher before moving to Seattle to take a master’s degree in Librarianship, graduating in 1956. Rex then worked for the Burnaby and Vancouver Public Libraries, retiring as head of the Acquisitions Division at the VPL. In retirement Rex divided his time between Vancouver and Ocean Park, Washington State accompanied by his close friend and companion of 57 years, Harris Clark McClaskey, who predeceased him in 2012.
Rex will be lovingly remembered by his cousins in England and Scotland as well many long term friends in Vancouver and Ocean Park.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Rex’s life on Friday, November 7th 2014 at 11:00am, St Francis-in-the-Wood Anglican Church, 4773 South Piccadilly Road, West Vancouver, B.C.
