Teri Ann Thatcher (Heyborne) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 27, 2024. Teri fought her own personal war with cancer for 11 years and did so with grace and dignity. She had a zest for life and battled to hang on for as long as she could. Through it all, she stayed positive and always felt more concerned for those around than she was for herself.
Teri was born on September 28, 1964, to Dee and Elnora Heyborne. She was the second of five children and the only daughter. As a young girl, Teri put her heart and soul into ballet dancing for nine years. Teri had a tremendous love for both land and sea and got the opportunity to travel to some of her favorite places with the people she loved dearly.
Through her first marriage to John Allen, came three beautiful children: Jessica, April and Tony. She cherished them beyond measure. Teri was a devoted mom and grandma and did all she could to help her children and grandchildren feel loved and special. They meant the world to her.
As a single mom, Teri worked extremely hard to ensure her family had all that they needed to give them the life and opportunities that they deserved. She was a natural born leader who achieved tremendous success by her own efforts. Her career, and the people she worked with, were very special to her. In 2016, she started working for Home Run Restaurant Group (HRRG). Her position within this company became her most fulfilling. Teri cared deeply for every team member and going out of her way to check in with them and helping them wherever she could.
In 1995, Teri met her soul mate and love of her life Steve Thatcher. After a 24-year courtship, she married her best friend on June 12, 2019. Steve was her rock and always put Teri fist. She could not imagine her life without him. They created so many memories together. They loved traveling to Alaska and fishing in Kenai. Their trip to St John in the Virgin Islands was the highlight of her travels as she would light up with pure joy when recalling those memories.
Teri loved cooking, especially when cooking for others. She never used recipes or measuring spoons but had a perfect sense for how to bring things together to make an amazing meal. She was famous for her Christmas candy. Food was one of many expressions of Teri’s love for her family and friends.
Teri is survived by her husband, Steve, her children Jessica (Korey) Hansen, April (Corey) Stam and Tony (Aimee) Allen, and her grandchildren, Milo, Cambrie, Kaylee, Ashton, Charlie, Lexie and Carter. She is also survived by her dad, Dee Heyborne, and her brothers, Russ (Karen), Greg (Kristie), Tom (Sharon) and Ryan (Bobbi). Teri was preceded in death by her mother, Elnora.
We would like to express our appreciation to Sean Cosper for his amazing support and the many doctors, nurses and medical professionals who stood by her for the past 11 years.
