Roger was born April 9, 1950, in Sandy, Utah to the late Harold Fred and VeeVee Lajuana Watson. Roger graduated from Jordan High and enlisted into the Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam conflict. He often stated “there should not be any type of games made about war, the atrocities of this are not fun, nor should it be glorified. Killing and the death of any person is not a game!” He loved the mountains and outdoors. He worked on a dairy farm, was a bronco rider, a mountain man, hunter of big-game animals and loved fishing. His camping days made for wonderful memories, with his Dutch oven breakfasts becoming legendary. He was certified in various mechanical areas and retired after 33 years as a well-known air compressor technician. His knowledge of skilled trades was abundant and will be forever missed. Roger and Lisa were married on September 11, 2004, and he was proud to say that “she was the best thing that ever happened to him”. This union created love, harmony and adventures beyond their greatest imaginations. At their home, Roger was able to make his own little farm with a horse, chickens and his dogs, which he enjoyed spending countless hours on. His love for Ford automobiles was profound along with his ability to repair, modify and fix them. He purchased a GT 500 Shelby Cobra, keeping it pristine and new up to the day he left us. Roger demonstrated that tough times could be defeated as he showed great patience and logic, along with the high morals he possessed, which were a testament to his character. He lent a helping hand without hesitation to family and friends regardless of how big or little the job was. He had a funny sense of humor, and a laugh that was genuine and contagious. Those who stayed close by his side were special, as it showed devotion, commitment and trust. These were all particularly important attributes to Roger, as it best describes the character of who he was, a gentleman’s gentleman. He will be missed tremendously.
