Robert was born on September 19, 1927 in Detroit Lake, Minnesota to John and Emma Howe. He was the youngest of four children. Robert married Leone Grande and together they had two sons, Robert Jr. and Michael. After Leone passed away in 1977, Bob spent the next 30 years with his partner, Joan Salee until her death in 2006. Bob and Jo loved to travel to Mexico with their large group of friends and spend those cold Utah winters in Casa Grande, Arizona in their fifth wheel trailer.
Bob drove truck for Consolidated Freight for 44 years. He loved to drive, it was his passion. During his tenure with CF he accomplished what very few do in his industry – 4 million accident free miles. Bob’s other passion was golf, he golfed nearly every day from the time he was retired until a year before his death (91!!). His favorite course was Meadowbrook in Taylorsville, UT. Bob loved his many friends and enjoyed his Saturday nights going out to dinner and playing marbles. Thank you to Royal and Donna for their 30 plus years of friendship and for always making sure Bob was taken care of.
Spike’s presence in this life will be sorely missed. Our world looks a lot different now, but his love will continue to live in our hearts.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, three older siblings, wife Leone, and partner Jo. Survived by two loving and caring sons, Robert Jr. and Michael. Daughter in law Barbara Howe, grandchildren; Katie, Melissa and Kristina. Great grandchildren; Jack, Kaia, Brooke, Izabella, Hannah, Owen, Evan, and Malayah. A very special thank you to Makell from Quality Hospice, your care and comfort will forever be appreciated, “babe.”
Spike, we will miss your presence in our lives, but like you always said, “You gotta keep movin’” so we will do just that.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Until then Spike insisted that we “Just have a drink.”
Cheers to you, Spike….
