Marilynn Marie Pulley Larsen “Mares” passed away at home on April 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 23, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Louise Conradsen and Roy Daniel Pulley. She was the third of four children.
Marilynn married the love of her life, Larry Allen Larsen on July 7, 1967. A marriage that almost didn’t take place due to the fact that he lied to her about his age and needed parental consent to apply for their marriage license. Clearly upset, Marilynn spoke with her father about the situation. He asked her “Do you love him?”, when she replied “yes”, he said “well then, there’s your answer”. That love remained true, they were married for 50 glorious years.
Together they had three beautiful daughters. Coco, Beanie and Cara to whom were her closest friends. They loved spending time together, whether it be camping, road trips, crafts or talking on the phone for hours.
Marilynn loved the family cabin in Bear Lake, Utah. Together with family, both close and extended, we built memories and bonds that will last a lifetime, and enjoyed each other’s company. Many quilts have been made, marshmallows toasted, Lawrence Welk shows watched, sunburns treated and bat’s dodged by the fire as we spent time together. It is all of these memories and so many more that act as glue, to keep us close as a family and bless us to form relationships that will be everlasting.
Marilynn worked in many various secretarial and administrative assistant positions in her lifetime. She worked for Salt Lake City Corp, American Stores Company and for a local law firm. She loved computers and making Excel spreadsheets for just about any and everything.
After retirement she and our dad traveled in their motorhome, her favorite trip was going to South Dakota. She has always loved animals and working in her garden. In 2014 our lives were changed and blessed when she was given the gift of life through organ donation giving us eight more years of love and laughs! Mom and Dad were proud to have adopted and loved many dogs including a disabled dog. When Larry suddenly passed away the week before Christmas in 2017 it was very hard on our Mom. She missed him everyday and wanted nothing more than to be with him. She was a strong and ferocious fighter though and she remained here through many many health issues to create more memories and show us the love we will so desperately need to carry on without her. Just a little over a year ago mom showed her overwhelming love again rescuing a severely neglected dog giving her an amazing home. Her special animals Victor, Zoe, and Mango were her companions after losing Larry. They loved and protected her to her last moments here on Earth.
Marilynn is survived by her three daughters: Colette (James) McNeill, West Jordan, Utah; Colleen Larson, Moroni, Utah; and Caralynn (Aaron) Sessions, West Jordan, Utah.
“Nanny” will be missed by her nine grandchildren: Hunter, Mason, Mallory McNeill; Calin, Corbin, Scott Larson; Camrynn, Sydnee, Berklee Sessions; along with great-grandchildren: Willow, Brody, Jack, and another little boy to arrive soon. Many others will miss her including grandchildren’s spouses, special nieces, nephews, great nieces, bonus daughters, and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Larry Allen Larsen; her parents, Roy and Louise; siblings: Barbara, Dan, and Bob; two angel grand-babies Gage and Lars; and a great grand-baby angel “Baby Rae”.
A special thank you to the many people who helped our Mom over the last several years. You made it possible for her to remain in her own home. Specifically we want to thank her neighbors, the Gallagher and Gardner Families for caring for her animals and checking in on her often. We also must thank the team of doctors, nurses, and staff at the different offices, and facilities which have treated her with love and respect.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120, with a viewing from 10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. that same morning. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
