Lorene Ross, 90, born in Norman, Arkansas, and passing away in South Jordan, Utah, leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and inspiration. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the heart of her family. Through her five children—Carmon (Tony), Sam (Jackie), Mona, and Fred (Paula), as well as her 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren—Lorene's enduring love and wisdom will echo for generations.
Preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Lillie Rowton, and her beloved son, Jim Ross, Lorene’s passing marks the end of an era. Known affectionately as "Shorty," she spent nearly three decades at Osborne Apparel, where her hard work, kindness, and quiet determination left a lasting impression.
Lorene came from humble beginnings, yet her children never knew hardship. To them, life was filled with abundance because of her unwavering determination and the values she instilled. She taught her family the importance of hard work, perseverance, and gratitude. While they may have thought they were rich, the true wealth she gave them was her work ethic, love, and sense of purpose.
In a fast-changing world, Lorene remained a constant—always generous, always kind, and always present for those she loved. She found joy in life’s simplest pleasures: a cheeseburger & Pepsi shared with family, the soothing voice of Engelbert Humperdinck, and the warmth of her children and grandchildren gathered together. For Lorene, home was wherever her family was, as they brought her the greatest happiness in life.
A proud supporter of the Democratic Party and a firm believer in standing up for what she believed in, Lorene balanced her strength with boundless humility. She would have given you the shirt off her back, embodying a generosity of spirit that touched everyone she met.
Her love of books, nature, and quiet reflection defined much of her life, as did her fondness for classic television shows such as *Dallas*, *Fantasy Island*, *Rockford Files*, *NCIS*, and *The View.* But it was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that defined her legacy. Her spirit will live on in the lessons she taught, the laughter she inspired, and the deep love she shared.
Special thanks to the staff at Riverway Assisted Living for their incredible care and kindness in Lorene's final years. You were her family, too.
A gathering of family and close friends will be held Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 4255 E Fairview Ave, Meridian, ID 83642.
