Dad was born and raised in St. George, Utah on April 11, 1934, he was always spotted racing his hot rods around southern Utah. During one of these adventures, he met and fell in love with Anna Mae Whitney and later married on September 28,1951 (later divorced) and later married Edith Rosa Petersen.
In order to support his family, they moved to the Salt Lake area in the year 1953. He was a professional truck driver, first working for Prince Block Company and Highland Dairy. Then he went to work for Milne Truck Lines for 30 years and other trucking lines after Milne’s closed. He was a loyal member of Teamsters 222 Union.
He loved his family very much, we always came first in his life, and he Loved going camping, boating and fishing.
He worked hard to get a pilot license and was able to buy a small plane in California, but unfortunately during the flight back to Salt Lake, the plane experienced engine problems and the plane crashed on take-off at the Fallon Nevada Airport. Luckily nobody on the plane was injured. It did provide many funny stories of how it crashed.
Dad was an Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served 2 service missions with Deward Nay, he really loved doing this service.
We loved and admired our father, and he will truly be missed.
Dad is survived by Linda Kay (Hurstle) Jeffers, Randy Athe (Kanna) Meeks, Terry Whitney (Vickie) Meeks, Kevin Whitney (Rhonda) Meeks and Shawn Larry (Debbie) Meeks. Dad has 14 Grandchildren and 33 Great Grandchildren.
Dad is preceded in death by his Son: Dennis Larry Meeks, and his Wife: Edith Rosa Petersen Meeks, his Parents: Athe & Marie Cox Meeks, Sister: Rosemarie Meeks Rowley, and Brother: Kent Cox Meeks.
