Our Wonderful and Sweet Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather passed away
December 23, 2018, after valiantly battling cancer for the last 12 years, with his loving wife, children and
grandchildren by his side. He was born May 2, 1938 in Moroni, Utah to Vawn Blackham & John Kay
Guymon. Boyd graduated from Moroni High School, and then served a mission for the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints to California. Upon his return he attended Snow College and earned an
Associate Degree. While there he married his sweetheart Lynnette Cahoon in the Manti Temple. Boyd
and Lynnette then went to Logan to start their family and continued his schooling at Utah State
University. This year they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. At an early age he developed a
love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing & hunting. Boyd was an avid “fly tier” and could
duplicate intricate patterns with ease. He was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. Boyd served in many callings including; Scouting, Sunday School, Young Mens, Temple Worker, Stake Missionary, and as the Branch President of the Salt Lake Correctional Facility. He has a strong Testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel and was able to share his testimony with his family and many others. Boyd worked for Western Airlines and later at Delta Airlines and retired after 36 years of employment. He is survived by his wife (Lynnette), son Karl Guymon (Caren), daughter Julie Sheppick (Chad), son Chad Guymon (Kaysie), son Russell Guymon (Haley), son Todd Guymon, 20 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, sister Louann Wilde (Gerald), brother Eddie Guymon, brother Bruce Guymon (Jean), and brother Jay Guymon.
A viewing will be held Friday December 28, 2018 from 6:00 pm – 8:00
pm at the Valley View Funeral Home located at 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City,
Utah. Funeral Services will be held Saturday December 29, 2018 at 11:00 am., with a viewing from 10:00
am – 10:45 am at the LDS Stake Center located on 5000 West Pavant Ave (3735 South). Interment will
follow the services at the Moroni City, Utah Cemetery.
