Gordon M. Wood, age 87, of Taylorsville, Utah, peacefully passed away on September 4, 2016, from natural causes, surrounded by family. Gordon was born on November 18, 1928 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Edward Glen and Eulalia Wood. Gordon was the youngest of five children, including his twin brother, Gerald.
Gordon was raised and worked on farms in southern Alberta where his love for tractors and machinery began. Gordon served a proselyting mission with the LDS church, Samoa, Apia mission. Gordon married Phyllis Greene on February 11, 1954 in the Cardston Temple. Gordon and Phyllis served two different construction missions to Samoa as well. Gordon cherished his time with the Samoan culture and people. He had an unwavering testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and a active member of the LDS church. Gordon and Phyllis had four children, Keith, David, Marilyn (Blake) and Kenneth (Wendy). He had eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings Reed, Alda, Howard and Gerald.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Whitewood 1st Ward (3555 West 5620 South, Taylorsville, Utah) at 11am. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, September 8th, at Valley View Funeral Home (4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah) between 6-8pm. There will also be a viewing one hour prior to funeral services at the chapel.
