Our wonderful mother, grandma, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, and friend, Geri Blackburn, 87, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024.
She was born on March 12, 1937, in Mohrland, UT, to William and Bertrude Baldwin and was raised in Hiawatha, UT. She eloped with Merlin Blackburn, the love of her life, on December 22, 1955, to Castro Valley, California. They shared a lifetime of devotion and love and are joyfully reunited in eternity. Their beautiful love story was the ultimate example of true love, teaching their family what it means to cherish and care for one another.
Geri was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving diligently for many years. Her faith guided her life and strengthened her family.
Family was the most important part of her life. She created countless cherished memories filled with laughter and love. Whether it was playing "Aggravation" or card games, her competitive spirit always added excitement and fun to every game, making them unforgettable for everyone involved.
Geri generously shared her talents with her family, spending hours teaching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren how to cook, bake, quilt, crochet, and sew. Her traditions will be carried on and cherished for generations.
She is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Neil) and Kelly (Todd), and her son-in-law, Keith Cook; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild, with one on the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Merlin; daughter, Penni; brother; her parents; and her son-in-law.
Geri will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her blunt humor, spunky personality, unwavering strength, and the endless love she shared with those around her. She leaves behind treasured memories and a legacy of love that will continue to bring joy to her family for generations to come. Until we meet again, we love you!
Graveside services will be Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 2:30 pm at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W 4100 S. West Valley City, UT
